Paper Peony Workshop with Lucia Balcazar

Boston bases artist Lucia Balcazar will be joining us again to teach her paper flower workshops. Her classes sold out quickly last time, so we're excited that she'll be able to teach again in May.

All materials are included. Students go home with a finished flower and a tutorial to make more on their own.

Special Class: 5" Candy Basket

Class: 5" Nantucket Candy Basket in Oak

Date: Tuesday, May 17th, 2016

Time: 10AM to 1PM

Cost: $157.00 (All materials are included.)

Join us for this 3 hour class in which students will be able to go home with a completed 5" round candy basket. This type of basket is called a candy basket because of its distinctive wooden lid, which turns it into a perfect vessel for candy or small treats.

For this class, we will be using oak for the base, rim, and lid. We think that oak is a beautiful complement to the sides of the basket, which are woven with cane.

This class is designed for all skill levels, from beginner to advanced.

CraftBoston Demonstration - April 29, 2016

We are honored to be demonstrating our basket weaving techniques at CraftBoston this year.

Join us from 1PM to 4PM in front of the Cyclorama to view a demonstration of Nantucket basket weaving.

Candy Art Demonstration - April 23, 2016

On Saturday, April 23rd, traditional Japanese candy artist, Candy5 will be joining us to demonstrate her craft.

Candy Miyuki studied traditional Japanese candy art under Master Kimura Takeo in 1994 and became the world’s first female candy artist in 300 years. In 1996, she moved to Orlando, Florida to perform at Walt Disney World’s Epcot Center. Since then, she has entertained and mesmerized many guests for 17 years with her amazing techniques at the Japan Pavilion. Now as a freelance artist, she hopes to expand her vision and share the Japanese art tradition by starting a world tour.

We will be taking orders ($10.00 per candy) on a first come, first serve basis from 4PM to 6PM. You can choose from her selection of designs. Make sure to get there early to place your order!

Miyuki will also be demonstrating her art on Sunday, April 24th at Japan Festival Boston. Lines at the Japan Festival are often very long for her work, so we're thrilled for her to join us on the 23rd!
